WELCOME MESSAGE

Morality is not about rules only, but relationships as well.

  1. Morality is not only about right and wrong decisions (many people want to think in black and white categories with regards to morality), but what shapes the character of those who must make decisions.
  2. Specific practices form character.
  3. We need to continually emphasize the virtues – the marks of good character – compassion, love, respect, responsibility, discipline, purity, etc.
  4. Credible examples/roll models are very important. The educationist McPhail once said: “Morals are caught, not taught”.
  5. Character is not only formed by individuals, but by the shaping, encouraging and correcting influence of a community.
  6. We are much more sensitive for the power of our contexts than what we think.
  7. We are participants in a larger history. We are not the first generation to grapples with moral decline. We can/must learn from history. It’ll not help us to recycle the same faults of past generations.
  8. We must learn how to help the youth manage technology in their lives.

“Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little.”  -  Edmund Burke
